The Story of Almail Sports Club
Foundation and Origins
Almail Sports Club (Arabic: نادي الميل الرياضي), commonly known as Almail SC, is a Kuwaiti amateur football club founded on 28 August 2021 by Mansour Abdulaziz Almail. The club was originally established as the Kuwait Almail League project before evolving into a football club in January 2024.
The idea behind the project was to build a football club capable of one day participating in the Kuwaiti football league system and creating a long-term sporting legacy. Almail SC is based in Kuwait and currently plays its matches at Bizarri's Stadium in Khiran. The stadium is owned by Bizarri, a company within the Almail Group, which also includes Almail Sports Club. The club's official colours are black and white.
Leadership and Identity
The founder, owner and president of the club is Mansour Abdulaziz Almail, who started the project from the ground up with no existing football structure. The club's nickname, "The Snappers", was officially adopted in 2024 after the club acquired a pet fish that became closely associated with the team's identity. Although the nickname began informally, it was later embraced by the club and included on its official platforms.
The Almail Name Legacy
The origins of the Almail name date back several generations. According to family history, Abdulredha Almail, the great-grandfather of the club's founder, worked at sea and was known among local people for collecting and transporting mail. When he arrived, people would say "Al Mail" had arrived, combining the Arabic word "Al" with the word "Mail". Over time, the name became associated with the family and eventually became the family surname.
Years later, Mansour Abdulredha Almail, the founder's late grandfather, designed a logo featuring the Arabic word "Almail" together with a traditional ship motif. The logo became the identity of the Almail Group and was later adapted by Mansour Abdulaziz Almail as the official crest of Almail Sports Club. The current version of the club crest was introduced in May 2024, replacing several earlier designs used by the project.
Transition to Professional Operations
Before becoming a football club, the project operated under the name Kuwait Almail League between 2021 and 2024. In January 2024, the project officially transitioned into Almail Sports Club and began focusing entirely on football operations. The club's long-term objective is to progress into organized league football, establish a youth academy and eventually build a dedicated stadium.
Competitive Debut and Early Success
Almail SC made its competitive debut during the 2022 Dumankaya Cup in Türkiye. The club's first match came against Palestine Guards and ended in a dramatic 4–4 draw. Almail SC won the penalty shootout 1–0 and secured the 2022 Dumankaya Cup title. The tournament featured two teams. The victory marked the first trophy in club history and established the foundations of the project.
The Marafie Era (2023)
The club returned to the Dumankaya Cup in 2023 under head coach Abdulrahman Marafie. Marafie, who became the first official coach of Almail SC on 26 May 2023, led the team during one of the most successful periods in its early history. On 16 July 2023, Almail SC defeated Palestine Guards 8–1, recording the largest victory in club history. Later that year, on 16 August 2023, Almail SC defeated Turkish Bulldogler 7–6 in a friendly match.
The Abulhasan Era (2023–Present)
On 9 December 2023, Mohammed Abulhasan replaced Abdulrahman Marafie as head coach. Abulhasan had previously played for Almail SC before moving into management. Under his leadership, Almail SC continued its success in the Dumankaya Cup. On 25 July 2024, the club defeated Palestine Guards 6–4 to win the 2024 edition of the tournament, which featured two teams. On 6 August 2025, Almail SC defeated Shabab Al Hura 7–4 to win the 2025 Dumankaya Cup, again contested by two teams.
